A friend and I were talking about creativity lately. With both of us being copywriters and facing the challenges of creating interesting content on the daily, we were trying to figure out good ways to stay creative and keep those juices flowing.
Wouldn’t it be amazing to have a certain song, genre or “thing” that unleashed the creative beast in you? My friend Tanya, said that listening to Tycho helps her focus and visualize her creative process. I need that. When I’m home, no matter what I’m doing (or unplugging) to keep my focus, the second one of my cute, fur-babies prances in the room all hope is lost. Look at these faces… No one could focus with adorable “wrestle-time” distractions like that.
I’ve tried different playlists, no music, so many things. If I’m home, I can’t focus. That’s it. Luckily I don’t have the same distractions at work or I’d get literally nothing done (which means I’d be unemployed). But still, the creative process is hard to stay on top of. As far as writing goes, I’ve been gifted a writing prompt book that give you a topic or storyline and you have to finish it. I should really use that and see if it helps, huh? Maybe I’ll even write something good and fulfill my childhood dream of writing an action-packed fiction story. Fingers crossed! ;)
